SkiStar, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, brings together some of the most renowned ski resorts in Norway and Sweden, offering world-class facilities in breathtaking landscapes. For over the last two decades, Axess has provided access solutions across SkiStar resorts, including Åre, Sälen, Vemdalen and the urban slope Hammarbybacken in Sweden, as well as in Hemsedal and Trysil in Norway.
From gentle alpine routes for families and challenging slopes for expert skiers in winter, to mountain biking, and hiking in summer, SkiStar destinations offer a variety of adventurous activities throughout the year. To support them, Axess provided different solutions that enhance operations and guest access.
Streamlining ticketing and preventing fraud
The installation of 36 Axess SMART POS systems improves sales and ensures fast ticket issuance as well as secure payment management of tickets, rental fees and store purchases.
Additionally, 49 Axess PICK UP BOX 600 units provide self-service ticket printing and pickup. By simply scanning the QR code from an online ticket or receipt, skiers can collect their physical prepaid ticket quickly and effortlessly, and access the slopes after validating the ticket at our gates.

In order to further strengthen fair access and prevent ticket fraud across all resorts, staff performs on-the-spot ticket inspections with Axess HANDHELD devices, one of our most popular mobile ticket validation solutions
Seamless access with smart technology
Given the high visitor numbers and peak hours, 380 AX500 Smart Gate NG units with flap modules are installed across the resorts to ensure safe and efficient passage.
These reliable systems support barcode, QR code, and RFID ticket verification through Axess CONTROLLER 600 and Axess TICKET SCANNER 600, which also features a smart card function for reading data from chip cards in ISO format and wristbands.

Data integration for personalized experiences
Skiers’ experience is enhanced by customer relationship management features and gamification powered by Axess CLICS— our central platform that delivers customer data to the SkiStar’s loyalty system.
Each pass through an AX500 Smart Gate NG can act as a trigger in the resort system, registering activity, tracking real-time stats and unlocking gamification features. This combination of gate data and member profiling enables SkiStar to send skiers dynamic promotions and personalized offers, such as equipment rental discounts after a heavy ski day, or spa deals when usage is low.
