From now on, visitors, both great and small, of the Salzburg Zoo will be welcomed at the new main entrance. With the most up-to-date software installed, this long-term Axess customer is ready for future-oriented visitor management. The modern design of the hardware products perfectly completes the architecturally state-of-the-art visitor center, which combines centuries of tradition with modernity.

Salzburg Zoo

Salzburg Zoo has been making history for 600 years and has developed from an archbishop´s wildlife park into a nature and species protection center that welcomes up to 400,000 visitors a year. Thanks to the permanent expansion of the attractions, the Salzburg Zoo is an excursion highlight in the city of Salzburg. The newly built main entrance is not only a convenient and safe entrance to the zoo, but also has a large cash desk area as well as an information point- and gift shop. The cooperation between Salzburg Zoo and Axess AG has existed for more than 15 years. The partnership for the “Axess lioness” Nala has also lasted almost as long.

Online Ticketing

On the way or from home, the visitor can buy their tickets online via the Axess WEBSHOP. Day tickets, family tickets and gift vouchers for one-day admission can be purchased in just a few clicks at any time. After successful payment, the ticket is available for download and will be sent to the customer´s email. The ticket can be stored on a smartphone or printed out as a Print@Home ticket.

Arriving at the zoo, only two steps are missing:

• - Open the ticket on your smartphone
• - Scan the QR code
• - And now you´re right in the middle of the exotic animal world.

When several tickets are purchased by one person, a separate QR code is generated for each guest. This can either be scanned from one smartphone or the corresponding QR codes can be shared to your family & friends. Possible waiting times at the cash desk can thus be avoided in a simple way.

Smart hardware products

The access to Salzburg Zoo was designed with extra wide AX500 Smart Gates NG. the extra-wide Flap Paddles Glass provide safe and comfortable access for families with children. The stylish design of the access gates fits perfectly into the entire concept of the new visitor center. The gates are equipped with the Axess SMART SCANNER 600 NFC, which reads the ticket and opens the gate accordingly. With the NFC technology already integrated, Salzburg Zoo will also be able to offer mobile ticketing in the future. Here, the smartphone becomes the ticket – preparing and scanning QR codes become a thing of the past. Ready for the digital future of visitor management, nothing stands in the way of this amazing wildlife experience in Salzburg.
