First installations in South America

AXESS is expanding into South America and installing its innovative access systems in Valle Nevado, La Parva and Corralco for the upcoming winter season. They are also the three most popular ski resorts in Chile.

The highest-located Smart Gates will be in Chile from the summer

While many of us here are thinking of the sea and summer vacation, over in Chile the snow is slowly starting to fall. Five-million metropolis Santiago de Chile is gearing up for winter. With Valle Nevado and La Parva just an hour’s drive and over 60 switchbacks away, its store windows are adorned with skiing equipment. Both of these ski resorts promise fun on the slopes and optimum snow conditions at altitudes of up to 3,670 meters. Valle Nevado is ranked 18 among the world’s highest ski resorts, La Parva comes in at 24. As an alternative to Smart Gates, these resorts also read and check tickets using the portable Handheld readers. Lane Control monitors and cameras are used in all areas for optimum security. The ski resort of Corralco lies at 2,000 meters and is very well known for its powder snow, guaranteed by the unique coastal climate. Cruising down a volcano, too, makes for a truly one-of-a-kind skiing experience.

Axess was awarded the contract for ticketing and access management at all three ski resorts – its South American expansion starting with a bang. Bursting with motivation, project manager Manuel Schröder will soon be a frequent flyer to the other side of the world to ensure the Smart Gates in their various versions (floor-mounted and gantry), point-of-sale and ticketing systems are all up and running ready for the start of the ski season. With these three projects, Axess stands to impress with its completely tailor-made solutions. These include a fiscal module, obligatory for Chile, as well as a specially created interface for the existing webshop. Owing to the different ownership structures of the three resorts, an activity-based charging system needs to be put in place. New Axess software products, custom-designed to meet the specific needs of the regions’ resorts, are already being developed and will soon be offered as additional features.

Corralco, seven hours’ drive south of Santiago, never fails to impress with its magnificent deep-snow slopes and unique, just-skied-down-a-volcano feeling. Not only in Europe but here, too, ski pass checks are an important topic. The Smart Gates in the Flap version coupled with the option of incorporating parking space management ultimately swayed the vote strongly in favor of Axess System.

What Axess AG does with such incredible success in nine countries is to design individual solutions that meet practically every requirement. Its basic systems can be specifically configured thanks to the maximum flexibility afforded by the modular system. The AX 500 Datacenter, which controls the systems, can be used equally as flexibly. Various prices and configurations are offered to meet customers’ specific requirements. For which there’s always an Axess employee at your disposal to provide further assistance. Just like Manuel Schröder, who’ll be spending the majority of his working hours in Chile even at the start of the project to ensure everything goes without a hitch. And then once the snow over there begins to melt again, it’ll be time for the first snowflakes to fall over Europe. And for the skiing fun to start once again in the northern hemisphere.
