As the home ground of both FC Zürich and Grasshopper Club Zürich, the Letzigrund Stadium is the venue for the legendary derbies which take place between the two. It also regularly stages international football.

The Swiss passion for football is infamous, and it is not unknown for things to get out of hand occasionally. In order to guarantee a safe environment for everyone attending games, the Swiss Football League has put stringent safety standards in place. As part of this approach, Zürich City Council has been instructed by the league authorities to install 14 additional Security Gates.

Axess AG, an Austrian company which specialises in all aspects relating to smart access solutions, was commissioned with the implementation of this task. It supplied 14 robust AX500 Smart Security Gates, which have now been installed on the North and South sides of the stadium. The Security Gates provided by Axess are immune to vandalism and fulfil the very strictest safety characteristics. At the same time, however, they permit a high pass-through rate and are perfectly integrated into the existing infrastructure.

The new Security Gates by Axess were officially inaugurated on 14 October 2016, meaning that Zürich’s famous football rivalry can continue as usual.
