Gautefall Ski Resort: A fully integrated guest experience with Axess

Set in the scenic landscapes of Telemark in Norway, Gautefall Ski Resort is a year-round mountain destination. Surrounded by forests and rolling peaks, it is known for its relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere and diverse activities for all skill levels.

Since 2019, several Axess ticketing and access solutions have enhanced operations and guest experience at Gautefall, including Axess WEBSTORE, our all-in-one digital platform for tickets and services sales, 2 Axess PICK UP BOX 600 units for self-service ticket printing and pickup, and 10 AX500 Smart Gate NG units equipped with Axess FLAP 600 for safe and efficient passage.

Building on this partnership, the Norwegian ski resort has recently implemented a comprehensive suite of integrated solutions to support the full guest journey. Food and beverage management across restaurants, cafés, and après-ski areas are managed through 9 Axess RESORT F&B POS, 2 Axess RESORT F&B SELF SERVICE KIOSKS and 5 Axess HANDHELD units. Ticketing and retail sport shop sales are supported by 1 Axess SMART POS, and equipment rentals by 5 Axess RESORT RENTAL POS. Ski school and outdoor activity bookings and management are handled via Axess RESORT LESSONS, while access to the new fitness studio is managed by Axess SUITE READER 600 and its subscriptions by Axess MEMBERSHIPS. For parking operations, the resort relies on Axess PAY ON STREET and Axess PAY MOBILE, ensuring a seamless and connected experience across all guest touchpoints.

Enhancing service flow across restaurants and cafés

Diverse F&B management solutions support operations across different locations at Gautefall. 

The Ski Lodge Gautefall, a cozy Lodge with food service and reception for their rental apartments, as well as the Ryttersprånget Café, located at the top of the ski slope, are equipped with several Axess RESORT F&B POS and Axess HANDHELD.  

The Axess RESORT F&B POS provide real-time visibility of table status, including occupancy, time spent, and revenue, enabling efficient management of seating and service flow. Tailored to each business, the system supports complete order management – from order creation, adjustments, and assignation to table changes, split or full payments, and receipt retrieval or reprinting. 

Furthermore, Axess HANDHELDS enable service staff can take orders quickly and efficiently from anywhere and forward them directly for preparation, while guests can conveniently complete their payments at the devices. The F&B Application is used in the Handheld devices together with PAYMENT PROVIDER integration that makes it possible to take payment directly at the tables with NFC / Tap on payment

At the Skisenter Café, 2 Axess RESORT F&B SELF SERVICE KIOSKS support fast and efficient self-service ordering and payment. Guests can easily browse the menu on the intuitive touch display, select the desired food and drinks, and pay by card directly at the terminal or take an order confirmation to pay in cash at the POS. While guests find a seat, preparation in the kitchen begins immediately. Additionally, one Axess RESORT F&B POS supports counter service for coffee and snacks sales, where guests collect items and complete payment with the assistance of the cashier.

Smooth Après-Ski experience - quick F&B ordering & smart ticket validation

In Skisenter After Ski, 2 Axess RESORT F&B POS support staff in managing drink order and payment, enabling fast, efficient service during busy peak hours.

Furthermore, staff use Axess HANDHELD to ensure quick access control for guest with prepaid online tickets for “après-ski” events.

Integrated rental operations and sales channels

Gautefall has installed the flexible and modular Axess RESORT RENTAL software for sports equipment rental, also allowing store employees to access all necessary customer data and view the rental store's inventory in real time.

Customers can reserve and pay for their equipment online via the Axess WEBSTORE when buying a ski pass from home or handle the process on-site through the Axess SMART POS with integrated Axess RESORT RENTAL, when purchasing tickets upon arrival.

On-site equipment rental is further supported through mobile check-in, allowing guests to pre-select equipment online, and then pay and collect the equipment at the Axess RESORT RENTAL POS.

Efficient management of lessons and guest activities

Gautefall has recently introduced Axess RESORT LESSONS, which will be in operation from next season. This software module brings ski school operations and activity planning, such as lessons and mountain experiences, into a single connected system. Guests can easily book lessons online via Axess WEBSTORE or on-site at the Axess SMART POS, where RESORT LESSONS is fully integrated. For operators, all processes—from scheduling and reservations to billing and communication—are managed centrally, streamlining operations while maximizing capacity and revenue.

Powering access to fitness facilities

A modern training studio has recently been inaugurated at Gautefall, offering guests a dedicated space to stay active during their mountain stay. Access to the facility is managed by a wall-mounted Axess SUITE READER 600, our advanced scanner for QR codes, NFC, or RFID ticket validation.

Additionally, the brand-new Axess MEMBERSHIPS software module will allow guests to subscribe to the training studio on a flexible, time-based manner.

Smart parking management

Axess PAY ON STREET enables easy, smooth, and secure barrier-free parking management at Gautefall, using license plate numbers for identification and control. Guests can conveniently pay the parking fee on the day of their visit by scanning the QR code displayed at the parking area, which redirects them to the Axess PAY MOBILE website. By entering their license plate number and email address, payment is completed securely on their mobile device, and guests can proceed directly to the exit.

Parking can also be added in advance when purchasing ski tickets via Axess WEBSTORE, where users easily register their license plate number. This grants parking access for the selected days without additional on-site payments.

For operators, the Checker App enables real-time verification of whether the parking fee has been paid.
